The simple Romanesque Église Saint-Christophe dates from the 12th century and has been classified as a historic monument since October 20, 1920. Its nave has a barrel vault reinforced by three transverse arches.

The Château de Claix, also known as Château Saint-Georges, was built in the 18th century on medieval foundations dating from the 13th century. The Château Saint-Georges features architecture described as very rare in the Charente. It is visible from the road; visits are not offered there.

Nature

The Chaumes de Vignac et de Clérignac area covers 103 hectares and extends across Claix and Roullet-Saint-Estèphe. The Chaumes de Vignac form a limestone plateau overlooking the Claix valley and the grain plain below. A small wetland lies in a deeply incised valley hollow in the Chaumes de Vignac, through which the small Vigouille stream meanders.

The Meulières de Claix comprise 190 extraction pits. Between the 16th century and the beginning of the 19th century, they were exploited by the Parenteau millstone-trading dynasty. The Meulières de Claix also include habitats of Community interest, including therophyte grasslands with numerous annual plants such as the Sabline des chaumes, which is protected in France.

Trails

Claix has the 14-kilometre, blue-marked circular trail Sentier des meulières. The long-distance hiking trail GR4, which runs from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, also passes below the plateau of the Chaumes de Vignac et de Clérignac.
