Taillebourg: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Taillebourg is considered a “remarkable heritage site”. A commemorative plaque in the village recalls the Battle of Taillebourg on 21 July 1242.

Culture

The church of Taillebourg contains a reproduction on canvas of a stained-glass window from the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris. It depicts the transfer of the Passion relics by Saint Louis.

The remains of the Château de Taillebourg include a tower, cellars, moats, fortifications and vaulted rooms.

Nature

Since July 2004, Taillebourg has been part of the Natura 2000 site “Vallée de la Charente moyenne et Seugnes” (FR5412005). The area includes a protected zone for just over twenty bird species.

The landscape around Taillebourg consists mainly of meadows, farmland, wooded areas and marshland. The wetlands of Taillebourg, shaped by the Charente, favour the reproduction of certain species.

Water and Trails

The Chemin des Escarbilles is an educational nature trail along a former railway line from Taillebourg to Fenioux. The “Circuit les Trois Châteaux – PR 28” circular route runs between Taillebourg and Annepont.

Cruises are offered on the Charente aboard the Bernard Palissy III. The Nautic Club de Taillebourg on the Route de la Brossardière is a water-skiing and wakeboarding club. Boats and pedal boats can be rented at the Quais de Taillebourg on the Route de la Brossardière.
