Saint-Thomas-de-Conac: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Nature

The Moulin à vent de la Croix was built on a hilltop in 1820; from there, it overlooks vineyards, wooded marshlands and hilly countryside.

The 10-kilometre-long Circuit des coteaux de Saint-Thomas-de-Conac leads through rural landscapes and marshlands.

The Circuit VTT N°14 – Les Coteaux de l'Estuaire is a signposted 24-kilometre circular route and offers remarkable views of the Gironde estuary. Numerous truffle groves can also be discovered along this route.

The Saint-Thomas-de-Conac à cheval horse-riding route is easy, takes around four hours and includes a picnic area overlooking the estuary.

History and architectural heritage

The Eglise Saint-Thomas was a dependency of the Savigny priory in the Diocese of Lyon and was ceded to it around 1070 by a canon of Saintes Cathedral. It is significant above all for its Romanesque features and its bay beneath the bell tower; as a whole, it was listed as a historic monument by decree of 30 July 2002.

The Moulin à vent de la Croix retains its millstones and mechanisms and is largely preserved overall. Including its mechanism and lower room, it was listed as a historic monument on 28 October 1996.

The Château de Conac was built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Gironde.

Wine and products

Domaine de la Ville offers tours of the vineyard, cellars and distillery with a tasting by appointment. The winery sells Pineau on site in red, rosé and white varieties, as well as aged Pineau.
