Culture
The façade of the Chapelle romane de Saint-Vivien has seven arches and is surmounted by a bell tower with a bell dating from 1846. The Eglise de Challaux is another church in Montlieu-la-Garde. Its nave dates from the 12th century; the choir and bell tower appear to date from the 13th and 14th centuries, respectively. The bell tower contains a bell dating from 1654.
The Eglise Notre Dame de l'assomption was built in 1857, consecrated in 1858 and has a bell tower dating from 1875. When the church is open, visitors can see wall paintings, an organ, two paintings donated by Napoleon III to commemorate his visit to Montlieu, two older paintings from the former church of Saint-Laurent-du-Roc, and the altar of Saint Ixile.
The Monument des Américains commemorates nine Americans whose aircraft was shot down over the Saint-Vivien area on 31 December 1943. In the Couret Valley, a brick-built spring set into a wall can be seen.
The Lavoir de La Garde, also known as Lavoir du Rambaud, was faithfully rebuilt and is a place for walks and picnics. The fully renovated Lavoir du Cellier washhouse is located in the valley near the sewage treatment plant.
