The Les Essards–Nieul-lès-Saintes mountain biking circuit is 22 kilometres long and classified as easy.

Culture and History
The first documented mention of the Church of Saint-Nicolas dates back to 1157. The church was built in the 12th century according to a Latin-cross ground plan and belonged to the Montierneuf de Poitiers priory.
The historic site of Pigeonnier et vestiges de l'abbaye de Montierneuf is located in the wider regional surroundings of Les Essards. The Church of Saint Eutrope de Saintes and the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre are located in the vicinity of Les Essards. Fort de Lupin is also located in the wider regional surroundings.
The former watchtower was probably built in the 15th century, completely renovated at the end of the 20th century and converted into a municipal library.
