Culture and History

The former Prieuré Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption was built in the 12th century. The western part of the nave and the entrance portal are all that remain of the original priory.

The Moulin Benoist is one of the two windmills remaining from Lagord's former group of six windmills. The Château du Bois-d'Huré has an old chapel with a triangular gable. The freestanding dovecote in the grounds of the Château du Bois-d'Huré dates from 1599.

The German army built 18 bunkers in the park in front of the Château du Clavier, which served primarily as hiding places for weapons and for archiving and storing food.

Paths and Green Spaces

The Sentier de découvertes was created in May 2008. The seven-kilometre circular route takes two hours and invites visitors to rediscover Lagord's history.

The Route Chaîne des puits leads to the various surviving wells in Lagord. The Circuit des arbres fruitiers is one of the walking or cycling circular routes in Lagord.

The Parc André Charier is a green space in Lagord where visitors can go for a walk.

Market and Connections

Lagord's traditional market takes place on Friday mornings between the Square des Echassiers and the Oiseaux de Mer shopping centre, offering the municipality's residents and visitors groceries every week.

Buses on the Illico 3 route run every 10 minutes and connect La Rochelle city centre with Plage des Minimes.
