Architecture and history
One of La Rochefoucauld's notable structures is the Pont du château: the ashlar bridge, dating from the 15th century, connects the château with the town, has been protected as a Monument historique since 1935 and features four segmental vault arches.
The half-timbered house on the Grande rue, at the corner of Rue du Bourg-Pailler, is a rare surviving example of medieval urban architecture. The collegiate church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption et Saint-Cybard is a building protected as a Monument historique that was constructed in 1262. Its features include stained-glass windows and a rose window from the 16th century. The Cloître du Couvent des Carmes is a rare example of Gothic architecture in the Charente and is freely accessible all year round.

Landscape
The Tardoire flows through La Rochefoucauld. In the karst of La Rochefoucauld, its water sinks into swallow holes, meaning that the river can disappear completely from its surface bed several kilometres before joining the Bonnieure.
Markets and events
A fair is held in La Rochefoucauld-en-Angoumois on the 10th of every month at the Place du Champ de Foire. If the 10th falls on a Sunday or public holiday, the fair is held on the 9th.
The weekly market in La Rochefoucauld takes place all year round every Saturday morning under the market halls and in the square by the church. Products on offer include fruit, vegetables, fish, seafood, poultry, meat, honey and flowers.
Activities
The fitness trail in the Bois du Château is shared by La Rochefoucauld and Saint-Projet and comprises 14 stations: nine stations for strength, balance and stretching exercises for adults, as well as five more playful stations for children.
