Cycling
The Aunis Sud cycling network includes the Vélo Ciré route, which passes through Ciré-d'Aunis, Ardillières and Landrais. The route starts and ends at the Place de la Croix Jaune in Ciré-d'Aunis. For mountain bikes/hybrid bikes, there is a short 11.7-kilometre route with a stated duration of 1 hour 30 minutes, as well as a long 23-kilometre route, for which a duration of 3 hours is stated.
The Château de Ciré is designated as a place of interest on the Vélo Ciré circuit on Rue du Champ de Foire. The Château de Ciré was rebuilt in 1549 by Olivier de Culant, Baron of Ciré and Seneschal of Aunis and Saintonge.
Water
Etang des Colverts offers two private fishing ponds in the Rochefort marshes within the municipality of Ciré-d'Aunis, covering a total area of more than five hectares. Fishing at Etang des Colverts is possible exclusively from the bank, does not require a state fishing federation licence and is offered by the day or half-day. The 0.5-hectare pond is intended for fishing for trout, sturgeon and white fish.
Culture and history
The altar tabernacle with exposition was restored by Bénédicte Le Blanc in 2009 and has been protected as a movable cultural heritage object since 21 September 1984. The municipal library of Ciré-d'Aunis is located in the former girls' school building dating from 1882.
The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Eglise de la Nativité de la Sainte Vierge, was originally built around 1152 by Guillaume de Ciré as a small Romanesque church. The present church was rebuilt in 1549 by Olivier de Culant, Baron of Ciré. It can be viewed from the outside all year round.
Nature
The ZNIEFF Bois des Mornards is located in Ciré-d'Aunis and covers 88.88 hectares. The area consists of wet woodlands that are flooded in winter and crossed by old ditches, as well as meso-hygrophilous hay meadows along the edge. It is home to a significant breeding colony of grey herons and purple herons.
The Poney Club de Marcou in Ciré-d'Aunis offers riding lessons for all ages and skill levels. The club also offers riding courses or training sessions, as well as pony games and baby pony activities.
