Aumagne: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Roman road between Saintes and Poitiers has been documented in Aumagne at the foot of the Roman column and runs along the village centre. The column stood in the Bois de la Chagnée, in the centre of a square enclosure measuring 26 metres in length.
Perhaps the main aim of a stay in Aumagne is to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture
The conservatory at Chez Chagnon was added to the property in the 1880s. Its iron structure supports leaded stained-glass windows, many of which are still original.
The dovecote gateway at Le Treuil also features distinctive architectural details: its rectangular hipped roof, covered with flat tiles, is topped by a ridge ornament. A projecting stone on the south façade served as a landing board.
The Le Pignaud estate once comprised three châteaux: Montorgueil, Montalaise and Montapeine. Only the foundations of Montorgueil remain, while Montalaise and Montapeine are still standing. The Chail de Babelot is interpreted as the fallen and partially broken capstone of a dolmen.
The “Explorer autrement Aumagne–Chagnon” tour begins at the corner of Rue Principale and Impasse de l’École in Chagnon. From there, it leads through the built and natural heritage. The tour uses a smartphone or GPS, as well as a quiz, to explore the cultural heritage.
Aumagne is also home to a water tower supplied by a horse-powered noria.
Nature
The Saudrenne flows through Aumagne. In Chagnon, on Rue du Chêne vert, there is a remarkable holm oak; at a height of 1.30 metres, it has a circumference of 4.15 metres.
