Les Glachoirs is a former quarry that has become a Sensitive Natural Area and has naturally regenerated over time. The site is considered an exceptional place for walks and features distinctive geological characteristics. Since 2019, climbing at Les Glachoirs has been overseen by the FFME, the Fédération Française de Montagne et d’Escalade. The climbing guide lists more than 260 routes and 100 boulders.

Nature and water
The Marais de Chantraine has a landscaped path of approximately 2.8 kilometres around the pond, where visitors can observe the species living there. Information boards introduce the typical fauna and flora of wetlands. The Marais de Chantraine can be visited independently and without a guide at any time.
Canoeing and kayaking are possible on the River Le Thérain in Saint-Vaast-lès-Mello.
Hiking trails
La randonnée des carrières is a signposted and marked PR hiking trail. In 2025, the information boards, signposts and street furniture along La randonnée des carrières were completely renewed. Visiting Les Glachoirs via La randonnée des carrières takes approximately 45 minutes there and back and leads through steep, rocky terrain. The route leads to a viewpoint overlooking a quarry; the Chapelle Saint-Nicolas is also part of the route.
La randonnée des Sources leads from Rousseloy to the Chapelle de Saint-Vaast-lès-Mello, passing by the ponds and marshes of Mello.
History and architectural heritage
Stone quarrying shaped the landscape of Saint-Vaast-lès-Mello and contributed to the history of the town from the Gallo-Roman period to the present day.
The church of Saint-Vaast-lès-Mello was classified as a Monument historique by decree of 11 September 1906. Its main construction phases date from the 12th and 13th centuries.
The hamlet of Barisseuse is home to a former farmhouse of architectural interest, built from dressed stone in the 18th century.
Getting there
From Creil, follow the D123 towards Beauvais for 5 kilometres to the entrance to Saint-Vaast-lès-Mello; after turning off, the climbing car park is 200 metres further on the right.
