Saint-Maximin: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
A notable historical feature is the Saint-Maximin church: its oldest parts date back to the last quarter of the 11th century.
Culture and History
The Musée des bombardements presents hundreds of objects related to military aviation during the Second World War. These include aircraft parts, remains, uniforms and documents from that period. The museum is located in the stone cellars of a building dating from 1883, which served as a shelter during the bombardments.
In 2026, the underground quarry and some rooms at the Maison de la Pierre will be temporarily closed for maintenance work and adjustments to comply with applicable standards.
Those who have chosen Saint-Maximin as their destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment here.
Nature
Saint-Maximin is one of the municipalities in the Oise-Pays de France Regional Nature Park. The local natural area includes Étang Sainte-Barbe, a former gravel pit that serves as a breeding ground for waterfowl and a resting place for migratory birds. Étang Sainte-Barbe is located along the GR11 route. There is also a fishing spot and an opportunity to take a walk near the river.
Activities
The Le Larris climbing site – a former limestone quarry – is equipped for climbing all year round. It has just over 160 climbing routes ranging from difficulty level 3a to 7b, with a maximum height of 15 metres.
Saint-Maximin can also be included in a cycling trip: the Le Massif des Trois Forêts cycle route begins in Saint-Maximin and passes through the Oise-Pays de France Regional Nature Park.
