Culture and History
The Moulin de Campdeville was one of four grain mills belonging to the Seigneurie of Troissereux. Milling operations ceased in 1894, after which the building was converted into a residence.
At the site of the Moulin de Milly, a first grain mill is documented from the 18th century and shown on the administrative plan of the municipality of Milly from 1784. Milling operations ended in 1958; around 1968, the site was converted into a fish farm. The present site of the Moulin de Milly appears to have resulted from the complete conversion of the grain mill into an industrial-scale grain mill around 1855.
The Moulin d’Argent was originally called Moulin de Moismont. During the revolutionary period, it was built without authorisation by the miller Pierre Lemaire. After a fire in 1983, the Moulin d’Argent was completely destroyed; only part of the wall on the river side and the vertical waterwheel survived.
Industrial activities in the hamlet of Moulin des Forges date back to the 15th century. An almost 300-metre-long diversion from the Thérain was used there. A fulling mill was also built near the Moulin des Forges between 1768 and 1784.
