Lacroix-Saint-Ouen has a historical walking tour with information panels; the panels were renewed in 2019. Archaeological excavations in the Basse Queue gravel pit uncovered traces of a Stone Age industry. At Mont Chyprès, archaeological excavations uncovered metallurgical workshops where bronze objects were produced.

The local woodworking industry is also historically documented: the Harmand-Fercot sawmill and crate factory was founded in 1848. From 1784 onwards, Lacroix-Saint-Ouen gained a certain reputation for producing beechwood crates and chests. This production was known as “layetterie”.

The Chemin des Plaideurs is one of the oldest paths in the forest; the inhabitants of Lacroix-Saint-Ouen used it to seek justice from the bailiff of Pierrefonds. The easy, 8.6-kilometre “Du Puits du Roi au Vivier Corax” hike passes through Lacroix-Saint-Ouen. At the edge of the Lacroix-Saint-Ouen forest, it reaches the Chemin des Plaideurs and follows this path.

The section of the greenway between Lacroix-Saint-Ouen and Verberie alternates between forest, ponds and riverbanks; 95 per cent of the route follows dedicated paths and it has no inclines. The Trans'Oise greenway and EV3/Scandibérique connect Lacroix-Saint-Ouen with Pont-Sainte-Maxence and continue the Compiègne–Lacroix-Saint-Ouen route.
