Culture
During the German occupation from 1914 to 1917, the château of Frétoy-le-Château served as the headquarters of the 1st Guards Division under the command of Prince Eitel Friedrich of Prussia. A postcard from 1909 documents the construction of the Canal du Nord near Frétoy-le-Château and the repair workshops there.
The historic site of Abbaye-aux-Bois 1202-13uu is located in the immediate vicinity of Frétoy-le-Château. The surrounding area also includes Château de Ham, the historic site of Abbaye Notre-Dame de Ham, and the historic site of Abbaye Notre-Dame d'Ourscamp. The local architectural history also includes the Nativité Notre-Dame church: its façade dates from the 18th century, while the choir may date from the late 16th century. The foundations of Frétoy Castle, built in the 11th century, are still preserved.
