Culture

The Musée de l’Archerie et du Valois has been recognised as a Musée de France since 17 September 2003. It preserves sculptures of sacred art dating from the late 13th to the 20th century and presents the development of the bow from prehistoric times to the present day, as well as archery traditions from around the world that are deeply rooted in Valois. The museum can be reached via Mobi line no. 1, with stops at Michel Dupuy and République.

The history of the town includes the Chapelle Saint-Aubin, built around 1170 to 1180 by Thibault III de Crépy-Nanteuil, and the Saint-Arnoul Abbey, founded in 1008 to house the relics of Saint Arnoul. The partially restored remains of the abbey include a cloister gallery, the chapter house, the parlour, the warming room from the 17th and 18th centuries, and an extensive network of underground galleries. Today, the collegiate church of Saint Thomas of Canterbury retains its 50-metre-high bell tower, part of the façade and the first bay of the nave. Its site has been closed to the public for works since the partial collapse in 2019.

The Porte Saint-Agathe is also part of the historic heritage: it dates from the 18th century and is one of the two surviving town gates of Crépy-en-Valois.

Nature

The Parc Sainte-Agathe is located in the heart of the historic centre of Crépy-en-Valois. It contains old trees with hollows that are regularly used by woodpeckers or squirrels (Sciurus vulgaris).
