Auneuil: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The former Boulenger or SAPCA ceramics factory in Auneuil is now the Musée de la céramique architecturale. Those choosing Auneuil as their base can plan to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture
The current site of the former Boulenger ceramics factory includes a museum, a pottery workshop and a shop. The Boulenger site was classified as a Monument historique and placed under heritage protection in 1991; the Musée de la céramique architecturale was established there in 1994.
The Notre-Dame de l’Assomption church in Auneuil dates back to the foundation of the Priory of Auneuil in the 11th century and was extended in the 16th century. Its bell tower dates from 1746 and its portal from 1782. The façade of the Maison Boulenger reuses a Boulenger ceramic tile; the building was classified as a Monument historique in 1992.
History
From the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, brickworks, followed later by the production of roof tiles and ceramics, fundamentally changed the character of Auneuil. The Boulenger brothers’ manufactory is considered the first manufactory of inlaid tiles on the continent.
From 1936, Auneuil also became a tourist destination; the train provided easy access to the heights of Auneuil and their viewpoints over the Avelon valley.
Nature
Auneuil is included in the list of municipalities in ZNIEFF 220014088. The bocage in question is characterised by significant acidic and wet habitats used for forestry and livestock farming.
Getting Around

The Trans’Oise is a designated and secure route for cyclists, walkers, roller skaters and people with reduced mobility.
A walking procession leads from the church in Le Vauroux via the Chapelle de la Piété to Auneuil and includes a Mass. The chapel’s stained-glass windows were created in 1880 by the workshops of the stained-glass artist Monsieur Roussel from Beauvais and restored in 1951. La Grange de Georges in Auneuil is classified under the categories of outdoor activities and nature recreation.
