Culture
In the immediate vicinity of Saint-Nicolas-de-Brem is the Église de Saint-Nicolas-de-Brem. By decree dated 20 July 1956, it was classified as a French historic monument. It is open year-round for free, unguided visits; guided tours are also offered seasonally. Its portal features a sculpted triangular pediment and a sculpture of Saint Nicholas.
Next to Saint Nicolas Church is the Motte féodale, a burial mound dating from the feudal period. It preserves the remains of a fortified castle built to defend the former port of Bram. The Calvaire Saint Nicolas is located on the motte. It is 22 metres high and has an average circumference of 170 metres.
Saint-Nicolas Cemetery is home to a Hosannière cross, which previously stood in the former cemetery below the church. The Menhir de la Crulière is a megalithic monument classified as a historic monument and is also known as „la Pierre du Diable“; it was classified on 18 February 1934. The menhir dates from the Neolithic period and bears witness to human settlement along the coast since prehistoric times.
The village of Saint Nicolas de Brem was founded on a rocky plateau. Its church and a castle were built on either side of the port and towered above it.
