The cultural trail of Saint-Étienne-du-Bois is a one-hour loop through the town centre. It leads to a wash house built in 1912 and restored in 2002, as well as to the Place de l’Église with its 18th-century houses. The crypt and the church are accessible there.

In the centre of Saint-Étienne-du-Bois, the orienteering course created by the Conseil Municipal des Enfants leads to unusual places in the town. The course takes around two hours on foot and can be completed as a short loop.

Culture

The Chapelle de la Tulévrière was built in 1794 during the Reign of Terror by Abbé Tenebre, the parish priest of Croix de Vie. It was built in gratitude for the protection of the village of Tulévrière during the passage of the Infernal Columns during the Vendée Wars. Guided tours of the chapel are available; interested visitors can contact the town hall of Saint-Étienne-du-Bois for this purpose.

In the village of Tulévrière, the old forge can be visited in summer.

Nature and Encounters

The Parc des étangs comprises two shaded ponds, a children’s playground, a city stadium and picnic tables. Fishing is possible there; the fishing jetty is accessible to people with disabilities.

The Parc des aubépines has a children’s playground with a zip line and an educational pond. The Ferme de l’Espoir is a family-friendly, traditional educational farm where visitors can discover horses, ponies, donkeys, goats, sheep and chickens.

Gastronomy

The Domaine de la Grande Villeneuve welcomes visitors to its wine cellar in Saint-Étienne-du-Bois in the Vendée for tastings of its wines from the Vendée terroir. At the estate, visitors can discover at least a dozen grape varieties presented by Victor de Goulaine.
