Culture and History
The Église Saint-Sauveur has been protected as a historic monument since 14 July 1877; its narthex dates from the 11th century. Mareuil-sur-Lay-Dissais was a former port visited by boats carrying salt upstream on the Lay.
The Église de Dissais – Musée des 3 Batailles has housed a permanent exhibition since 1993, serving as a memorial to three battles of the Vendée Wars. These took place on 28 June, 30 July and 14 August 1793.
Nature and Trails
The Coulée Verte features an arboretum and a picnic area with beautiful views of the Lay. The Bois des Tours is a 12-hectare wooded area in a grassy valley that divides into two valleys bordered by rocky slopes. The area is well equipped for walkers and offers a wide selection of easy walking trails.
The orienteering course uses a map and control markers, starts at the Salle Omnisports and offers 1.5-, 2.5- and 3.5-kilometre routes that are also accessible with pushchairs.

From April to September, Vignobles Mourat offers wine tours and tastings at 3 p.m.; prior contact is requested. Also from April to September, Vignobles Mourat offers self-guided excursions through the vineyards by bicycle or electric car upon reservation; a picnic is delivered to the vineyards.
Vignobles Mourat operates three wine estates, including two organically farmed ones, with a total of 125 hectares of vineyards on slopes in the Fiefs Vendéens Mareuil appellation.
