La Boissière-De-Montaigu: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The main construction phases of the Château d’Asson in La Boissière-de-Montaigu date from the 15th and 18th centuries. The Château d’Asson is partially protected as a historic monument. Culture and History

In the town centre, the Église Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption is open to the public during the day. The Neo-Gothic church has a 50-metre-high bell tower; its main masonry was completed in 1916. The stained-glass windows were installed in several stages between 1918 and 1929. The windows in the side aisles from 1929 depict the seven sacraments.

La Rallière is considered to be a manor house built in La Boissière-de-Montaigu in the 16th century. The Logis de la Fortécuyère is a private property with an old house dating from the 15th century. The manor house and pavilion of the Logis de la Fortécuyère have a 17th-century appearance. A chapel was built there in 1741 by the wife of Charles François Le Jay de Mianne.

Lac de la Bultière is a 72-hectare artificial reservoir located in the municipalities of La Boissière-de-Montaigu and Chavagnes-en-Paillers. The municipality of La Boissière-de-Montaigu has Lac de la Bultière as part of its natural heritage, as well as around 12 kilometres of hiking trails. Canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards can be rented at the Base nautique de la Bultière.

The Les Logis hiking trail starts at Place de la Mairie and is marked in yellow. It leads along sunken lanes past the former manor houses of the lords of La Boissière and showcases the historical heritage of the municipality of La Boissière-de-Montaigu. The Les Logis circular hiking trail starts at Place de la Mairie. The La Bultière hiking trail starts at the Fortécuyère car park in La Boissière-de-Montaigu and is marked in black with the designation ENS (Espace naturel sensible, sensitive natural area).

The Les logis en pleine nature cycling route starts and ends at Place de l’Église in La Boissière-de-Montaigu. It leads to four private properties: the 15th-century Château d’Asson, the 16th-century Logis de la Raillière, the 15th-century Logis de la Fortécuyère and the 16th-century Logis de la Mazure in Saint-Georges-de-Montaigu. A short section of the route runs along Lac de la Bultière.

Events and Everyday Life

La Saint Glinglin is a biennial festival held at Bois des Brosses in La Boissière-de-Montaigu. It includes costumed parades and floats made by the local residents themselves. Décors de rues is also held every two years, transforming La Boissière-de-Montaigu with historic façades and former shops styled as they were in times gone by. The Canasson Festival is a weekend concert event at Bois des Brosses, organised by the local association SONID’ART.

The Bibliothèque de La Boissière-de-Montaigu provides more than 3,000 books and offers monthly reading sessions for babies as well as themed evenings.
