Culture and history

The Church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption comprises a seigneurial chapel dating from the late 11th or early 12th century, as well as a collegiate church built from the 13th century onwards. The Château des Deffays is a 12th-century fortification on the shore of the Grand Étang des Deffays in the Sillé Forest near Sillé-Plage.

The Château de Sillé-le-Guillaume offers visits, workshops, medieval events and guided tours. The heritage trail of Sillé-le-Guillaume is available in French and English.
