Culture

In Ségrie stands the Notre-Dame de Ségrie, a 13th-century church built from limestone and the regionally typical Roussard sandstone. It has a rectangular bell tower with a gabled roof, as well as round-arched windows, a portal, buttresses, moulded cornices and carved corbels; these architectural elements resemble the Romanesque style.

Ségrie's local minor heritage includes walls made of alternating layers of stone and flint, partially framed with red bricks. At the “Cheminée suspendue” stop on the Chemin des Bercons, two chimneys can be seen; they are the remains of a bourgeois or noble residence from the 15th or 16th century, respectively.

Nature

The Sentier géologique de Ségrie runs across Palaeozoic formations on the eastern edge of the Armorican Massif and Mesozoic formations in the west of the Paris Basin. The trail is 11 km long, marked in orange—often with missing and difficult-to-follow markings—and takes around three hours. It invites hikers to discover the local geology, the building materials, their extraction methods and their use in local construction.

Those choosing Ségrie as a travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Trails

The Parcours d'interprétation Ségrie/Saint-Christophe follows a 4.5 km-long former railway line between Ségrie and Saint-Christophe-du-Jambet and has been prepared for hiking, horse riding and mountain biking. It starts at the former Ségrie railway station in the direction of Saint-Christophe-du-Jambet. Along the route, information boards provide details about the local history, architecture, fauna and flora.

History

The railway line serving Ségrie opened for operation on 8 May 1881. The last train passed through Ségrie railway station in 1993.
