Culture and History

The war memorial in the Church of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul in Pontvallain was erected shortly after the end of the First World War and inaugurated in April 1920. It includes statues of Joan of Arc and Bertrand du Guesclin.

In the wider region around Pontvallain are three châteaux: the Château de la Suze-sur-Sarthe, the Château des Carmes and the Château de Malicorne-sur-Sarthe. The Abbaye de la Boissière, a historic site, is also located there.

Hiking and Landscapes

The PR Les Mézeaux is a blue-marked hiking trail measuring 7.3 km, with an estimated walking time of two hours. It passes a series of caves carved into Tuffeau limestone. The former road from Le Lude to Mansigné, which was used by stagecoaches, lies along the route.

Pontvallain has almost 20 km of hiking trails, allowing visitors to explore the landscape of Sarthe and the surrounding villages. The Aune and its tributaries are considered ecological attractions in Pontvallain.
