Culture
The Church of Saint Martin de Mézeray was built around 1912 to replace a medieval church. Mézeray lies on the routes dedicated to Saint Martin; the Sablé/Solesmes–Tours route dedicated to Saint Martin passes through the town.
During a Heritage Day, you can visit the Chaudemanche workshop, discover its pottery with its distinctive decorations and glazes, and work with clay on the potter’s wheel.
Walking and Horse Riding
Mézeray has 50 km of walking trails used by hikers, joggers and mountain bikers. The Boucle des Mésangères is an easy 10-km walking trail (PR) starting in Mézeray. A horse-riding trail awarded by the Conseil général de la Sarthe opened in Mézeray in September 2010.
La Cavalerie Des Mésangères is an FFE riding school in Mézeray. It offers individuals and groups trail rides as well as two-hour riding lessons. Mézeray’s traditional horse festival takes place in September.
Nature
Along the Boucle équestre de Mézeray, the paths are lined with hedges planted with centuries-old oak trees; the trails also pass through deciduous and pine forests.
Nature et Balade offers basket-weaving courses for children and adults; they are held as half-day, one-day or two-day courses. Nature et Balade also invites visitors to care for apple and pear trees in a conservation garden, plant hedgerows and take part in a project to create an arboretum.
Culinary Heritage
The poularde, or fattened hen, has been raised in Mézeray since the 15th century. The hen known as “La Flèche” is considered to have originated in Mézeray.
