Maigné: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Maigné is an important stop in the “Petits villages de caractères” network. The village can be explored from the 12th-century Church of Saint-Vigor.

Culture

Maigné’s local cultural heritage includes a château, a manor house, a seigneurie, a washhouse on the Gée and a former post house. The Manoir de la Seigneurie manor house is protected as a historic monument; its façades and roofs were registered on 17 February 1928.

The Château de Resteau was built in 1855 by the architect Delarue for Guy Charles d’Andigné and Blanche de Caillau. It is a château in the Neo-Renaissance style, made of brick and stone, with four main towers and five turrets. Resteau was a small independent fief of the castellany of Maigné.

Resteau Park was designed by Leroy in 1855 and has changed little since it was created. Notable trees shape the landscape, including two cedars of Lebanon on the lawn. The Church of Saint-Vigor has stained-glass windows designed by Alban de Châteauvieux in 2019.

Maigné has a memorial trail with fourteen stations; ten are located in the village and four in the surrounding area. Attractions include old grain mills and noteworthy residential buildings dating from the 15th to the 18th century.

Nature

Maigné has a signposted hiking trail and an educational nature trail in a wetland. Maigné is a starting point for numerous excursions into the surrounding countryside. The landscaped wetland of Maigné is suitable for a picnic break.
