Wine

The history of winegrowing includes the Jasnières AOC: winegrowers from Lhomme joined forces and obtained it on August 11, 1937. The Jasnières AOC produces exclusively white wine from the Chenin grape variety.

History and Culture

The church “L’église Saint Martin” was built in the 12th century with a single nave and an apse. Lacroix’s painting “La Vierge au Rosaire” is located in the northern chapel and was classified as a historic monument in 1906. In the apse, there is a 17th-century altarpiece featuring Lacroix’s painting “Le Christ aux instruments de la Passion,” which was added to the register of historic monuments by an order of the Prefect of Sarthe dated August 11, 2016.

A wind-powered installation installed in 1892 by Auguste Bollée’s company was used to pump water for the château below.

Getting Around

The greenway is reserved for non-motorized travel, particularly for pedestrians and cyclists. It is open to pedestrians, bicycles including electric bicycles, wheelchairs, skateboards, roller skates, scooters, and strollers. The greenway connects Montval-sur-Loir with Bessé-sur-Braye over a length of 33 km, of which 2.5 km lies in the Loir-et-Cher département, and complements the “Vallée du Loir à vélo” route.

Landscape and Orientation

The “Mon Idée” viewpoint offers a beautiful view of the Loir Valley and the vineyards and has an orientation table.
