Auvers-le-Hamon: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The Notre-Dame d’Auvers-le-Hamon Priory was founded in the 11th century on the orders of Guy I de Laval, who handed it over to the Abbey of Saint-Pierre de la Couture between 1046 and 1051 for the establishment of a Benedictine priory.

Culture

The Église Saint-Pierre has been protected by registration since 23 August 1978. Its 11th-century nave and 12th-century bell tower were built from slate and Roussard sandstone; the choir and transept were rebuilt in 1866.

The La Bailleulerie washhouse, also known as La Petite Bailleurie, was given a covered double basin in 1842 after the municipality had purchased the spring and a basin in 1820. During the major washing days, it was a social hub of the municipality for many years.

In front of the Salle des fêtes on Rue de Sablé, a stone millstone commemorates Auvers-le-Hamon’s milling history. The Chapelle Notre-Dame in the La Chasnière district of Auvers-le-Hamon was rebuilt around 1870.

Activities

The animal park in the Espace Philippe de Jourdain was established in May 2020. Visitors can see the donkey Ulysse, the two alpacas Gwendolyn and Mourus, goats, Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs and numerous poultry species. The multisport court offers facilities for basketball, football, handball, volleyball and tennis.

The Boucle Auversoise starts and ends at the Plan d’eau in the town centre and is a 9.6-kilometre hiking trail. It reaches Bellevue, which offers a broad panoramic view over the Auvers-le-Hamon countryside and beyond, and leads to the 15th-century Manoir de Maupertuis.
