Nature

The municipal circular hiking trail Circuit de randonnée Claire-Fontaine et la Chapelle de Courbefosse is 14.61 km long, of moderate difficulty, designated as a walking route, and returns to the starting point as a circular trail.

Culture and History

The Chapelle de Courbefosse has been documented since the 12th century, although it is probably older, and houses a crowned polychrome stone statue of Notre-Dame de Coubefosse.

The Château de Goué is an inhabited manor house from the 17th century, rebuilt on the site of a 14th-century castle. On request, it offers guided tours for individual visitors and groups; visits are possible throughout the year by prior reservation.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception contains 19th-century stained-glass windows depicting scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary. The Chapelle Saint-Joseph de la Garde was built in 1891, is located about one kilometre from the town centre, and was designed as a place of worship in the rural surroundings. The La Chapelle de la Bigottière was built in 1639 under the patronage of Sainte Geneviève.

Gardens and Public Areas

The Jardin de Curé preserves an arbour planted in 1788 with several lime trees, as well as elements of the historic garden layout, including a cruciform design, straight paths and boxwood borders. The former rectory garden is now a public area for walking, relaxing and playing.

Crafts

The Atelier du Sabot originated as a family clog-making workshop founded around 1860; Paul Boisbunon made wooden clogs there from 1930 to 1993. Historical tools, an exhibition with various clog models, and around one hundred wooden lasts for shoe sizes from 5 to 11¾ inches have been preserved there.
