The GR8 long-distance hiking trail passes through Brétignolles-sur-Mer. The La Sauzaie surf spot is opposite the Esplanade, from which spectators can watch the action.
Culture
The Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption church has a neoclassical façade and was built from 1848 onwards on the site of a medieval church. The Dolmen de la Pierre-Levée is listed as a historic monument.
La Maison des Frères presents free public exhibitions every year from spring to autumn. It also hosts year-round exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography, as well as introductory workshops; in summer, recitals and concerts are additionally held in the garden.
The Stèle du Marais Girard stands on the site of a coastguard station built before 1756. A protohistoric briquetage site for the production of sea salt was discovered in the 1980s near Rue du Goutail and Impasse du Four-à -sel.
Events
The Déferlante de Printemps takes place every year in May during the Ascension weekend, on the same dates as the La 7e Vague festival. At the beginning of July, the Fête de la mer et du nautisme takes place every year in Brétignolles-sur-Mer. The event offers an opportunity to discover nautical activities. There are also family-oriented activities.
