Vattetot-Sur-Mer: Holiday Apartments and Houses

In the Vallon de Vaucottes in Vattetot-sur-Mer, there is a registered protected area covering 17.77 hectares; the corresponding decree was issued on November 27, 1935. Vaucottes lies on the GR21 long-distance hiking trail, which runs along the Côte d’Albâtre between Le Tréport and Étretat, then heads inland and reaches Le Havre.

Nature and Trails

Vaucottes Beach can be reached from Vattetot-sur-Mer via paths along the cliffs or via the sunken lane of the valleuse. Swimming at Vaucottes Beach is prohibited; fishing on foot between the rocks is possible at the beach.

“Entre bois et valleuses” is circular hiking trail no. 19 in the agglomeration’s hiking program and is included in the PDESI. The trail starts at the church of Vattetot-sur-Mer, is 9 km long, and takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The Valleuse de Vaucottes can be reached from Vattetot-sur-Mer via a picturesque road through the Bois des Hogues. In the valleuse, a path leads down to the sea between slopes lined with manor houses and villas.

The “Les Villas de Vaucottes” hiking trail starts at the church of Vattetot-sur-Mer and leads from there through the Valleuse de Vaucottes to Yport; the return route follows forest paths. It is 8.5 km long and takes approximately 3 hours.

Culture and History

The Saint-Pierre Church in Vattetot-sur-Mer dates back to the 12th century. It features a lantern tower typical of the Norman tradition, through which light enters the building, and its walls display flint mosaics.

The war memorial of Vattetot-sur-Mer is located in the church cemetery. It was created in 1920 and bears a bronze figure of Victory.

The hamlet of Vaucottes was a medieval port known as Port de Vaucoste and was incorporated into Vattetot in 1846. Vaucottes is also home to Villa Marie-Louise, where Maurice Leblanc, the creator of the famous adventures of Arsène Lupin, was a guest.
