The history of Saint-Wandrille-Rançon is closely linked to the Abbaye Saint Wandrille de Fontenelle. It was founded in 649 and is home to a community of Benedictine monks who celebrate Sunday Mass with Gregorian chants according to the Latin rite. The Chapelle Saint-Saturnin is integrated into the Abbaye Saint-Wandrille de Fontenelle; it can be viewed during the abbey's opening hours.

Culture

The Eglise Saint-Michel also dates back a long way: it was built around 735 using Roman materials, destroyed during the Norman invasions, and subsequently rebuilt in stone. It can be visited free of charge throughout the year from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The ruins of the former abbey church and the present-day church of the Abbaye Saint-Wandrille de Fontenelle are open to the public from 5:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. The Abbaye Saint-Wandrille de Fontenelle also accepts group visits throughout the year by prior appointment.

The Église de Rançon in Saint-Wandrille-Rançon was listed as a historic monument by decree of July 19, 1926. Anyone planning a stay in Saint-Wandrille-Rançon can choose to rent a holiday apartment.
