Culture and history

The parish church of Saint-Martin was built in the first half of the 16th century. The Château de Rieux is a listed château with a 9-hectare park. It was built in 1734 on the initiative of Chevalier Gaspard Nicolas Brayer de la Motte and is constructed of brick and decorated with stone.

The historic architectural heritage also includes the Manoir d’Infer, a former hunting lodge from the 17th century with a tall tower and a conical roof. The Manoir d’Infer was restored in the 19th century. The visible Manoir du Cornet is the former home of the glassmaker and is associated with the bottle-glass industry in Rieux.

The historic site of Abbaye du Lieu-Dieu is located in the vicinity of Rieux. The ruins of Abbaye Notre-Dame Foucarmont are also located nearby.
