Préaux: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

The choir stalls of the Église Notre-Dame de Préaux date from the first quarter of the 16th century and come from the Priory of Beaulieu in Bois-l’Evêque. They are classified as a protected movable cultural object; the corresponding listing dates from 20 October 1913.

The Église Notre-Dame de Préaux was rebuilt in 1776 using materials from the former collegiate church of Beaulieu, which had been dissolved around 1772.

The year 1784 is displayed on the cornice of the central gable of the Château du Bout de la ville. The Château du Bout de la ville dates from the late 18th century. The Château de Sainte-Croix dates from the first half of the 19th century, was built mainly of brick, and features slate cladding.

Nature and Trails

The communal Jardins Partagés, created or run as part of “Jardins en fête”, are open to the public. When a member is present, they welcome visitors to the community gardens, show them around the grounds, or answer their questions.

The 10.5 km route “Par le chemin d’Ecorchevache” follows the Route de Bellevue, then, before the SNCF bridge, takes the Chemin d’Ecorchevache through the Forêt de la Muette and returns to Préaux via the Rue du Vieux Château.

The 8.9 km hiking route “Le petit Verger” starts at the Parking du Pratelli on the Rue du Stade. One section of this route runs along the busy D53, the Route de Gournay. The 13.7 km route “Préaux – la visite” also starts at the Parking du Pratelli on the Rue du Stade.

Le Trou de Rouen is a 7.4 km circular trail starting in Préaux. The route passes through the centre of Préaux and across open plains. Along the way, it passes the privately used Château de la Bellevue, which was originally a hunting lodge. The route also identifies the former Maison du baillage as an architectural landmark; it is privately owned.

Food and Drink

In Préaux, the Cidrerie Le Sonneur du Val offers traditional farmhouse cider for tasting, made exclusively from pure must from cider apples.
