Montroty is a village in the Pays de Bray in the Seine-Maritime department, bordering the state-owned Forêt domaniale de Lyons.
Culture and History
The Eglise Sainte Madeleine in Mont-Rôty dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. It has a brick porch and a nave made of brick and flint. Inside, there are notable wood furnishings, including a Romanesque vault, benches, choir stalls and an altarpiece.
The Le Temple estate was transferred in the 14th century, after the disappearance of the Templars, to the Order of the Knights Hospitaller of Saint John of Jerusalem, also known as the Order of Malta. The La Haye glassworks operated until 1805. Its founder, Philippe de Caqueray, is regarded as the inventor of flat glass for doors and windows.
A total of approximately 872 ancient coins are reported for the Mont-Rôty treasure. The “Trésor de Mont-Rôty” was added to the collections of the departmental museum on 26 July 1905.

The La Hêtraie hike begins at the church of Mont-Rôty and runs through the Bois du Temple.
