Culture

The Musée des Arts et Traditions Normands displays an exceptional collection of furniture from Haute-Normandie, allowing visitors to trace the development of styles from the 15th to the 19th century. It also features reconstructed interiors of farmhouses from the Pays de Caux, the Eure département, the Pays de Bray and the Normandy coastal region. They are furnished with furniture and everyday objects from the 18th and 19th centuries. The top floor houses one of the most important collections of Norman bonnets, jewellery and costumes.

Another room on the top floor of the Musée des Traditions et Arts Normands is devoted entirely to the instruments of folk music in Normandy. Each year, the Musée des Traditions et Arts Normands presents temporary exhibitions on themes related to Normandy. Each year, the L'Espace Musical association also presents a new exhibition there on the history of music in Normandy, linked to the theme of the respective temporary exhibition.

An independent visit to the Château de Martainville can be supplemented by a visit to the dovecote. Audio guides are available at the reception desk of the Château de Martainville; the Musée des Arts et Traditions Normands also offers guided tours with audio description.

The Église Notre-Dame de Martainville-Épreville was consecrated on 1 October 1670 and dedicated under the title of Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix and Saint-Joseph. The Château de Martainville was probably built for Jacques le Pelletier in the late 15th century.
