Culture
One of the village’s notable buildings is the Église Saint-Martin. It was completely rebuilt between 1879 and 1889 by the architect René Martin and the sculptor Felix Bonet. Its classical floor plan is in the shape of a Latin cross; the church was built from black and white flint sourced from regional deposits. The stained-glass windows were created at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries by the glass painters Boulanger and Duhamel-Marette, who came from Rouen.
The Château d’Étennemare was built at the beginning of the 17th century by Jean Du Fa, a descendant of the Croixmare family, and extensively remodelled at the beginning of the 18th century. In Frontebosc stands the Chapelle Saint-Adrien, a free-standing Neo-Gothic building from the mid-19th century. It was built from local materials such as brick, worked flint, Caumont stone and sandstone, is privately owned and cannot be visited.
The Relais de poste in Limésy dates from the 18th century. It was built at the crossroads of the old roads “de Rouen au bourg de Veules” and “de Doudeville à Limésy”. The archaeological heritage of the municipality includes worked flint axes, Celtic silver coins, Roman remains, remnants of ancient walls and stone coffins from the Frankish period. They attest to the early and continuous settlement of the municipal area.
