Jumièges: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Abbaye de Jumièges was founded around 654 by Saint-Philibert and combines Gothic and Romanesque architecture. The annual Terres de Paroles literature festival, held every June, opens on the grounds; it includes meetings with authors, performances and readings.

Culture and history

The Église Saint-Valentin has been classified as a historic monument since 15 March 1918. It was built in the 11th and early 12th centuries at the request of the monks of the Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Jumièges to separate religious celebrations from the activities of laypeople.

The Chapelle La Mère de Dieu is located in the royal forest of Jumièges. It was the destination of numerous pilgrimages; an open-air mass is still celebrated there on Ascension Day.

Nature and leisure

The royal forest of Jumièges covers 700 hectares. The cemetery of the Église Saint-Valentin offers beautiful panoramic views of the village, the abbey and the Seine Valley.

The Base de Loisirs de Jumièges – Le Mesnil has a swimming area supervised by lifeguards.

Local life

Jumièges's weekly market takes place on Saturdays from 2 to 6 p.m. and features several local exhibitors.

Getting around

The La Seine à Vélo stage from Jumièges to Marais-Vernier is 46 kilometres long. Near Jumièges, La Seine à Vélo crosses the Seine by ferry.
