Colleville: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Colleville stretches across the bottom of the Valmont Valley and is crossed by the Véloroute du Lin. This multi-purpose leisure route connects Dieppe and Fécamp and runs parallel to the Véloroute du Littoral. Those choosing Colleville as their destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment here.
Landscape
The defining natural areas include Les étangs de l'Épinay, a continental type 1 ZNIEFF area that also extends into the municipality of Colleville. The area consists of former gravel pits on both sides of the Valmont, which have regained a high degree of natural character since gravel extraction ended. Les étangs de l'Épinay is also one of the few inland wetlands for waterfowl in the Pays de Caux.
The Promenade des étangs at the Étangs de Gredolle can be reached via a footbridge over the Valmont from the stadium or from the Véloroute du Lin. A path on the plateau offers views of the village’s hills and the former basin of the sugar factory.
Paths and Circular Trails
Most of the Véloroute du Lin has been developed as a greenway and is intended exclusively for non-motorised users such as pedestrians, cyclists, inline skaters and people with reduced mobility. In Colleville, circular trail no. 5, which can be walked, also starts behind the town hall. It is 8.1 km long, takes around two hours and, together with 18 other hikes, is included in the PDESI.
Le Torp is an 8 km circular trail starting in Colleville. The route passes through the agricultural landscape and wooded hills of the Valmont Valley. The viewpoint over the valley from the church is a worthwhile part of the Le Torp circular trail; along the way, visitors can observe the local wildlife and plant life. Trout fishing at the Étangs collevillais is possible alone or with the family.
Culture and History
The former sugar factory, now closed, is visible at the entrance to Colleville. Château d'Hougerville has medieval moats and small pavilions near the main entrance that were built in the 17th century. The château combines Renaissance and Norman architecture with half-timbering and Saint-Jean bricks.
Former watermills can still be admired along the Valmont, although most have since been converted into homes. The Church of Saint-Martin was rebuilt in the 19th century on a former pagan place of worship. Domaine d'Hougerville organises private events.
Getting Around the Village
Passage de l'Orée du bois connects Chemin du Parc with Route d'Hougerville. Colleville’s municipal media library is open to everyone at Espace Culturel Paul Delahaye, 855 rue de la Sucrerie. Colleville offers tourists gîtes as well as local services such as a café, a discount store and a farm shop.
