Culture

The Chapelle des Princes de Berghes and its original furnishings have been listed as Historic Monuments by an order dated 15 November 2010. The Chapelle des Princes de Berghes, also known as the Chapelle St Pierre, is a neo-Romanesque funerary chapel designed by Victor Ruprich-Robert.

When visiting the tower of the Château de Rânes, visitors reach the Fairy Chamber via a spiral staircase within the thickness of the walls.

The Musée de la préhistoire is located in the basement of the Château de Rânes. It offers children games, interactive modules, excavation activities and puzzles.

The Lavoir du Gué-Hébert washhouse is located on the road to Écouché, in the hamlet of La Berrerie. It was built on the Rânette stream at the beginning of the 19th century and restored after flooding of the Rânette in September 1881 swept away one of its walls.

Nature

The orienteering course in the grounds of the Château de Rânes uses control points with punch pliers hidden throughout the grounds.

Fishing is also possible in the grounds of the Château de Rânes. The grounds of the Château de Rânes have play areas for children.

The Hippodrome du Parc racecourse is located in the picturesque grounds of the château on the edge of Rânes town centre. Five races are held at the racecourse each year: on Easter Monday, Whit Monday, and in July and August.

Cycling

The municipality of Rânes runs the cycling route “La campagne au temps des forges”.
