Culture and History

The Chapelles Notre-Dame de l'Oratoire were built in stages: the first two chapels were constructed in 1852 and 1857, and a third between 1924 and 1927. The chapelles contain the fresco “La procession des âges” by André Jouault, which depicts the history of Passais from the first hermits of the Middle Ages to the modern era. The chapelles are open and freely accessible every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., free of charge.

The dolmen “La Table au Diable” is a gallery grave made up of five stone capstones and dates from between 3200 and 2200 BC. The covered walkway “La Table au Diable” is freely accessible; there is an information board on site.

The Manoir de la Guérinière dates from the first half of the 17th century and is located in the Bocage normand. Guided tours of the north and south façades are available. During these tours, visitors can see the bartizans on the south façade, the granite lintel in the main courtyard, the moulded cornice with brackets, and the Louis XV-style pavilions.

Nature

The attics of the Chapelle de l'Oratoire de Passais are part of the Natura 2000 protected area FR2502011, a special area of conservation. They are home to a breeding colony of greater mouse-eared bats (Myotis myotis) comprising around one hundred females.
