Culture and History
A Merovingian necropolis was discovered in the hamlet of Le Cotil Vert in Fel. The Church of Saint-Médard in Fel has Romanesque origins and was built in the 13th century. Its portal and porch date from the third quarter of the 12th century, while the bell tower and window openings date from the first quarter of the 17th century.
The historic buildings also include the privately owned Château Logis de Fel, which dates from approximately the 15th century, and the privately owned Remise manor house in Fel, dating from the 17th century. The Donjon de Chambois was built from “Pierre de Fel”.
Nature
The Calcaire bathonien de Fel site is home to calcicolous vegetation with numerous regionally rare and protected species.
The Château de Fontaine-les-Bassets, a château, is located in the vicinity of Fel. Also located nearby are the historic site of Abbaye Notre-Dame d'Almenêches and the historic site of Château des Ducs (Argentan).
The Château de Beaumais, a château, is located in the wider region surrounding Fel.
Hiking
The Circuit “Le Donjon de Chambois” hiking trail follows the D16 towards Fel, passing the church and then continuing along a path. It is marked with wooden signs bearing the names of the routes and is accessible year-round.
