Banvou: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The Varenne forge was in operation from the 16th to the 19th century. Banvou is also home to the Chapelle Saint-Ernier. The small granite building was erected in the 19th century on the site of Banvou’s former parish church. Its features include a ribbed vault and a small bell tower on the north-western gable wall.

The parish church of Saint-Ernier was built between 1857 and 1862 by the architect Dominique Dedaux. It consists of a bell tower, a nave, a transept and a choir with a flat-ended apse, extended by the sacristy.

Nature

Brown trout and California crayfish can be found in the Varenne in the area of the Pont de pierre.

Circular trail no. 16, “Le pont de pierre”, begins in Banvou and leads to a megalithic stone bridge over the Varenne. The starting point for this circular trail is at the church car park in Banvou.

GAEC de La Chèvrerie in Banvou produces fresh cheese, goat’s Tomme and goat’s faisselle on site.

Annual Events

A procession with unusual rites takes place in Banvou every year, around 10 August.
