Culture

By decree of 27 December 1973, the church in Yvetot-Bocage was classified as a historic monument. Its main construction phases date back to the 13th, 15th, 17th and 18th centuries. The church has 21 protected objects listed. The protected objects in the Église Saint-Georges include the stained-glass window “Verrière de la vie de saint Georges”.

The Oratoire des Carrières houses a protected statue of the Virgin and Child. Château de Servigny is partially listed as a historic monument; the protection covers the façades and roofs. In the first-floor salon of Château de Servigny, together with its furnishings, the German surrender, known as the Treaty of Servigny, was signed on 26 June 1944. The salon is listed as a protected part of the château.

History

Yvetot-Bocage’s architectural heritage is closely linked to the exploitation of numerous local quarries. They supplied stone for manor houses, farmsteads and magnificent residences.

Local Character

The Cidrerie de la Chesnaie has been owned by the same family for four generations. Using produce from its 15 hectares of orchards, it makes cider, apple juice, sparkling apple drinks, vinegar and various spirits such as apple liqueur, 44 and Calvados. The Cidrerie de la Chesnaie also offers tastings and tours of its cellars.

Experiences

The La Clé des Champs plant maze in Yvetot-Bocage offers a family trail with puzzles, games and activities renewed every year.

The “Labyrinthe végétal et exposition ludique sur Madagascar” event announced for 2026 includes a plant maze with information panels about Madagascar from 12 July to 30 August; a session was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on 13 August. Volunteers presented products from Madagascar, including woven goods, jewellery, small cars, vanilla, pepper and spices.
