The church of Sainte-Suzanne-sur-Vire dates from the mid-15th century and was built in the Flamboyant Gothic style. On 3 March 1931, it was added to the register of historic monuments.

A chapel was built in 1993 next to the ruins of Jean de Brébeuf’s birthplace. In La Boissaie, on the border between Condé-sur-Vire and Sainte-Suzanne-sur-Vire, the Chapelle Saint-Jean de Brébeuf can be visited at the birthplace of Jean de Brébeuf.

During the Fête de la Science, starting on 4 October 2024, more than one hundred schoolchildren visited the premises of the Centre national d’études et de sensibilisation à la pollution plastique in Sainte-Suzanne-sur-Vire and learned about measures to combat plastic pollution.

Remarkable views of the Vire valley open up along the D86. The small local roads from Les Trois Pucelles via Les Monts and La Boissaie to La Hure de Loup offer beautiful Bocage landscapes; from La Hure de Loup, the view extends to the Norman hill country.

Benches and tables are available along the banks of the Vire for resting and picnicking. At the starting or return point of the walk, there are public toilets open at all times, benches, a picnic table and, next to the church, a children’s playground.

Routes and activities

From the centre of Sainte-Suzanne-sur-Vire, the towpath along the Vire can be reached via the bridge and used on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback. More than 60 kilometres of the towpath along the Vire are open to the public.

The 29-kilometre La Rando des Haras Nationaux route leads to the towpath along the Vire and includes a rest area in Sainte-Suzanne-sur-Vire before continuing on to Condé-sur-Vire.

The Vire is a second-category fishing water, where line fishing is possible all year round.
