Ravenoville-Plage: Holiday Apartments and Houses
Ravenoville-Plage displays its coastal character right on the beach: Ravenoville Beach is lined with colorful beach huts, which are considered a distinctive feature of the town. The ÃŽles Saint-Marcouf off the coast are visible from Ravenoville Beach. Those choosing Ravenoville as a destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment there.
Coast and Beach
Swimming is permitted along the coast of the Bay of Cotentin from Ravenoville Beach to Sainte-Marie-du-Mont Beach, but it is not supervised. Longe-côte, a form of coastal walking in the water, is also possible at Ravenoville Beach. The beach is suitable for photographic walks, is freely accessible, and has free parking.
Culture and History
The Ancienne redoute in Ravenoville was built in the second half of the 17th century as evidence of Cotentin’s coastal defenses under the Ancien Régime. At Ravenoville Beach, at the northern end of Utah Beach, a viewing point shows defensive remains on the beach and in the shoreline area, including an anti-tank wall and WN 103.
The Église Saint-Gilles, also known as Église Notre-Dame, in Ravenoville has a triumphal arch at the entrance to the choir. Ravenoville’s Église Notre-Dame was transferred to Blanchelande Abbey in 1164. Its altarpiece, dating from the 15th to the 16th century, is classified as a historic monument as a movable object.
The Ferme-Manoir de Surville in Ravenoville was built in the 16th and 19th centuries. It has a double-leaf gate with a door knocker and a square tower, and was open to visitors.
