Périers: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Périers features post-war reconstruction architecture. The reconstructed buildings occupy a large part of the town centre and consist mainly of rubble stone from Doville, limestone from Cretteville and concrete blocks. Périers was more than 60 percent destroyed in Allied bombing raids on 8 July 1944.

History and Culture

The Church of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul is classified as a historic monument in accordance with the 1862 list. The Musée de la Libération de Périers shows how the town waited for more than 50 days to be liberated. The museum also looks back at the summer of 1944 through a private collection and the memories of eyewitnesses.

Landscape

Périers has a bocage landscape characterised by hedgerows. The municipal area also includes extensive, water-rich marshlands that provide a habitat for migratory birds.

The “Périers – Étang des Sarcelles – Marchésieux” cycle route starts in Périers at the entrance to the voie verte near the Rond-Point de Bastogne.
