Montviron: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Montviron has La Boucle d'Or, a 5.5 km circular trail starting at the Place de la mairie. The walking time is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. A second circular trail, La Boucle de l'Eau, is 9.7 km long; a shortened 5 km loop takes 2 hours and 30 minutes. The Boucle de l'Eau owes its name to the various bodies of water along the route.

Culture

At Notre-Dame de Montviron, the entrance portal dates from the 13th century and was restored in 1843. Inside the church, the 16th and 17th centuries are represented by the windows, the large transept crucifix, the altar at the back of the choir, and the altarpiece. The church also has nine remarkable stained-glass windows, known for their clarity, which were donated by parishioners around 1929.

Montviron Cemetery is home to the tomb of Louis LEBREC, a masterpiece of funerary art. It consists of a granite sarcophagus with a bronze recumbent effigy lying on top, made by the Havard foundry in Villedieu-les-Poêles.

History

The Château de la Perrière, formerly called Château de Bellevue, was built in 1900 by a Russian doctor living in Paris. In 1940, the château was occupied by the Avranches commandant's office during the war. It was sold to the LEREBOURS-PIGEONNIERE family in 1956. Montviron's architectural heritage also includes the Manoir de Mizouard, which was highlighted during the Journées du Patrimoine in 2015.

Montviron-Sartilly railway station is closed; it was a station on the Lison–Lamballe railway line. This line was built from the 1860s to the 1880s to connect the two major military ports of Brest and Cherbourg and serve the town of Saint-Lô.
