La Glacerie: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In La Glacerie, the visible cultural history ranges from a former mirror-glass manufactory to Renaissance architecture: the Manufacture royale des glaces produced mirror glass here from 1667 to 1830, including the mirrors for the Galerie des Glaces in the Palace of Versailles.

Culture

The Musée Connaissance du Cotentin is housed in a 19th-century farm in Hameau Luce. The farm overlooks the village of La Verrerie. The museum preserves collections relating to the former Manufacture Royale des Glaces à Miroirs, as well as an extensive collection of Norman bonnets and traditional costumes. Objects from everyday life in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century are also on display.

La Glacerie's outstanding cultural landmarks include the Eglise Notre-Dame de la Délivrande, the Manoir de la Fieffe and the Château des Roches. The Domaine du château de Tourlaville is partly located in La Glacerie; the château on the estate was built in 1562 and is representative of Cotentin's Renaissance architecture. The preserved gable of the entrance portal of the Manufacture royale des glaces can now be seen in the museum in La Glacerie.

The Théâtre des Miroirs offers theatre, performances for young audiences, storytelling events and concerts in La Glacerie. It also offers workshops for artistic expression in the fields of dance, music and visual arts.
