Hauteville-Sur-Mer-Plage: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

La Maillard is considered an exceptional wooden maritime heritage site. Of the five wooden fisheries still in operation in Europe, it is the only one that can be visited. It continues to be operated by the Lepeu family and serves as a V-shaped wooden fish trap at low tide. Two 500-metre-long wooden poles, known as the pannes, form a V on the beach.

The tourist office organizes visits and guided walks to the La Maillard fishery; it is also possible to travel there by horse-drawn carriage.

Nature and Trails

The coast of Hauteville-sur-Mer and the neighbouring municipalities includes extensive supervised beaches. The Louis Cirée promenade is named after the architect Louis Cirée, who is considered the founder of the seaside resort of Hauteville-sur-Mer, and is used for walks by the sea.

Hiking routes run along the Louis Cirée promenade in Hauteville-sur-Mer. Further hiking routes lead across the promenade and offer views of the Chausey Islands, Jersey and the upper town of Granville, as well as occasional views of dolphins swimming a few dozen metres away.

Culture

The Chapelle de la Plage in Hauteville-sur-Mer was completed in 1960 and inaugurated in 1961. Its choir contains stained-glass windows donated by Father Roger Picque. The chapel also houses the ex-voto La Croix du Sud, donated in 2017 by the Association Mini Bac Coutançais and the SNSM of Hauteville-sur-Mer.

The Église de la Vierge Marie en son Assomption in Hauteville-sur-Mer has a 12th-century tower that originally served as a refuge and as an observation and defensive structure. The former tower and the bell tower with its pitched roof were replaced by the present bell tower in 1905. The church's stained-glass windows were created by the glass artist Gabriel Loire from Chartres.

Water Sports

For 2025, the Association Nautique Hautaise announced a catamaran programme for young people aged 12 and over, for leisure or sporting activities. It also announced a catamaran programme for adults of all levels in 2025, including training for independent sailing.
