The GRP® 5 “sur les Traces des Fondeurs de Cloches” follows a 94 km route through Gouvets, marked in yellow and red. One stage runs from Villedieu-les-Poêles to Gouvets, and another from Gouvets to Hambye. Those choosing Gouvets as a destination may be planning to rent a holiday apartment.
Hiking
The “Autour de Gouvets” circular trail starts at the church square in Gouvets and is marked in yellow. It leads through the Gouvette Valley and includes an orientation board and a discovery trail focusing on fauna and flora. At 19 km long, with a moderate difficulty level, a stated duration of 4 hours and 45 minutes, and 330 metres of ascent, it is described in detail.
“La randonnée des Bruyéres” is a 15.5 km circular hike in Gouvets. It is described as a difficult four-hour hike with 325 metres of ascent. The hike begins at the Vallée de la Vire service and rest area on the N 175 and was proposed by the Communauté de Communes de Tessy sur Vire.
The Aire de la Vallée de la Vire on the A84 has a petrol station, a restaurant, a bar, a grocery shop selling regional products, toilets and showers, as well as parking for cars, motorhomes and lorries.
The Château de Torigny-sur-Vire, a castle, is located near Gouvets. The Abbaye de Boulaye, a historic site, is also located nearby. The Château de Vire is a castle in the wider regional area around Gouvets. The Abbaye de Torigny, a historic site, is also located near Gouvets.
Regional Traditions
Until relatively recently, the Presse, Lechevallier and Eudes families maintained the municipal tradition of the Pomme d'Or de Gouvets competition by marketing their cider, although on a significantly smaller scale than in the past.
Faith
At the Église Sainte-Marthe, Sainte Marthe is invoked to relieve intestinal pain in children.
